Torah Portion Korach

Numbers 16:1 – 18:32

This year we will be going through the Torah portion cycle looking for themes which occur in each Torah portion that recurs throughout the rest of Scripture with a special focus on connecting them to the Apostolic Writings (New Testament).

In Korach, we will connect the encroachment on the priesthood by Korach and his followers to the sin of Achan, to the encroachment of Uzziah, and to the sins of Annanias and Saphira in Acts 5. These are important lessons which serve as a warning when we are dealing with the holy things belonging to YHWH; we must always be careful not to encroach on His sancta. We will also learn why the believers brought their money to the disciples for distribution (hint: it’s not communism).
